Japanese Christian metal band Imari Tones announces the new lineup of the band featuring ex.Anthem (Black Hole) drummer
Japanese Christian heavy metal band Imari Tones is pleased to announce that they started their activity officially with the new lineup.
Imari Tones, formed as a band in 2004, is known as “The First Christian Metal band from Japan”. Although they have been playing independently, they have passionate fans all over the world.
Since the departure of the long time bassist and the drummer, Hassy and Jake, in March 2018, the lead singer Tak Nakamine has been looking for an appropriate way to carry on the legacy of Japanese heavy metal. Here today he is pleased to introduce the awesome new band.
Koji Maya, the new drummer, is a veteran from the early days of Japanese heavy metal. He used to play drums in bands such as Black Hole and Tokyo X-Ray. Black Hole was a band that would eventually be called Anthem, one of the biggest heavy metal bands in Japan. There he was playing with Naoto Shibata and Hiroya Fukuda before their success with Anthem.
Marie, the new bassist, has been playing with Tak for a while in his side project Atsuki Ryo With Jesus Mode. She was also an administrator of Stryper Street Team Japan that was active until 2016 and known as a supporter of Christian Metal. She has strong faith in Christ and you can’t find a better person for this band with a spiritual message.
In the past, in spite of calling themselves a metal band, Imari Tones’ music and visual images were diverse. They had some J-pop factor and indie alternative vibes. But with this new lineup, they are going to focus on heavy metal, both sonically and visually. (Because they can!)
Currently Imari Tones is pursuing the music called “Nabeshima” which is unique Christian metal based on Japanese traditional culture. With “Nabeshima”, they are sure they can show you not only the best Christian metal music but also genuine Japanese spirit.
Christian Metal is still an unexplored genre in Japan. But Imari Tones is trying to bring something new, as much as to inherit the legacy of Japanese heavy metal.
So please stay tuned. You will be amazed.
