We have released a new music video from our “Bloody Acoustic” EP.
(This is 2nd video from the EP, after “One Sheep” music video released earlier.)
This song is called “Bloody Messiah”.
It’s a Japanese song with strong Christian messages.
(If you don’t know, we are/were singing mainly in English. But for this EP, we chose to sing in Japanese.)
Just like I said in my previous post, I wrote this song in my dream (when I was sleeping). It happens to me sometimes.
I’m a big fan of a Japanese alternative rock band “Bloodthirsty Butchers”. However, the singer Hideki Yoshimura has passed away in 2013 and the band is no more.
Last year October, I heard their new song in my dream, when I was sleeping. I woke up and played the song on my guitar, because I thought there was no law that prohibits you from “stealing” the song you heard in your dream.
(But, of course, it does not sound the same as what I heard in my dream. Because the moment I played it on my guitar, it goes through my own filter and changes its form. Only a little things I could bring back from the dream world.)
The dream in which I heard the song, was a terrible one.
I killed someone in my dream and I was shocked. My hands were covered with blood. I was terrified and running. I wrote those stuff in the song lyrics.
Originally this was written as a band song. We probably will record it as electric band version in a future. But this time we decided to release it as acoustic version for this EP. We changed the song into shuffle rhythm and changed the arrangement for acoustic sound.
This song, as well as the EP itself, is different from what we did in the past.
It’s an acoustic song (even though it has electric guitar in it) and it’s a Japanese song.
But we are happy to release this song with a Christian message in our native Japanese language. Because it’s a message to our Japanese friends. It’s a statement as a Japanese Christian band.
The video is also different from what we did in the past.
Because it’s not heavy metal, things were more like J-Pop.
We tried to look normal just like any other Japanese pop band.
In 2020 we did all the activities without Koji (our drummer), because of a)his shoulder issue and b)COVID-19 issue.
So in this video we did it with our temporary “Duo” style. Only Tak and Marie are in the video.
(Ironically that makes it more like a “J-pop duo”.)
Even though the video looks like a regular Japanese pop band, the song itself has a very strong Christian message.
It’s “bloody”. It’s about sin. It’s about mistakes. It’s about repentance. It’s about the salvation.
We are very proud of this song.
We feel very blessed to have made and released this song.
