Kenshin meets Shinryu

We are so slow to update our website but here we are trying to catch up.

At the end of May, we visited Shinryu’s dojo located in the West part of Tokyo. We brought our new drummer Kenshin with us.

As you know, Shinryu is our previous drummer.
So yes, on this day our new drummer and previous drummer met.

Shinryu left the band last year October. Yes we are still friends and he is willing to help us whenever he can.

The purpose of our visit: Kenshin wants learn “battou” sword technique from Shinryu. (Even though it’s not really about playing music.)

We don’t think it’s a coincidence that Kenshin joined our band. It’s a divine guidance.

Shinryu was a samurai. As a successor of Shinryu, Kenshin came. He was a young man with a samurai look, and samurai name.

He visited our church, guided by God, and joined our band. It happened even though we were not doing anything for drummer search. It was a surprise and it was amazing.

Kenshin means “sword spirit”. Also the Kanji (character) used in his name means “Christ” in the context of Japanese ancient history. His name, Kenshin, can be translated to “Messiah’s Sword”. (Sounds like a very good song title!)
It’s only natural for Kenshin to wield a sword and fight like a samurai, isn’t it?

Since Shinryu was in our band, we have been performing with “Christian Samurai” theme, because that was our Japanese identity.
We are going to carry on this tradition, with young samurai Kenshin.

On this day, Shinryu gave Kenshin a sword lesson and these two “samurai drummers” are now “master & protege”.

It was a ritual to carry on the legacy. A legacy of heavy metal and faith. One samurai to another, the legacy of Japanese Christian Heavy Metal was carried on.

We posted some photos and movies on our social media page.
But we are willing to make a proper documentary movie to tell the story of these samurai drummers.
